I loved ballet shoes but dancing shoes was also awesome (especially becuase I knew a girl who was a real life Dulcie so watching Dulcie get her comeuppance was incredibly satisfying.)
ps. if you ever come across The Broken Citadel, Castledown, and The Great Wheel by Joyce Ballou Gregorian, my recommendations are very high (if there are any inclinations in Iz for "The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe" sort of thing).
I vaguely remember the Gemma books being even better than the Shoes books, she might want to check those out...
ReplyDeleteNOOO .. they are crap (comparatively) she was quite old by this time and was writing for the money. (You see what makes me de-lurk.)
ReplyDeleteBryony.
I am a strict Dancing Shoes partisan- My copy is held together with duct tape!

ReplyDeleteVery much laughing at Bryony. Will let Iz read your comments and decide for herself!
ReplyDeleteI agree completely with Bryony here!
ReplyDeleteShe needs to read the Saffy's Angel books too, by the way!
Also - Moomin is in the middle of The Microbe Hunters which I'm sure Iz would eat up like candy.
I still [heart] Petrova.
